What is Fiqh ?

Originally It means knowledge of something and the accurate understanding of it. So Fiqh or Jurisprudence is : 

“ Realizing, knowing. "It is derived from "faqīh", which means: scholar, knowledgeable person. Original meaning: opening, splitting; hence, knowledge was called "fiqh" because the person who has knowledge cuts through meanings and opens up what is closed (ambiguous) thereof. Other meanings: understanding.”

This field of Islamic Studies is very important because it is Ilm ( Study) that is concerned with studying How to worship Allah Subhanahu,the financial and social transactions between people, as well as studying cases, issues and rulings or judgments related to how a Muslim Should live by or according to Allah’s Sharae ( Law ).
