What does Aqidah mean? Is it important ? What am I suppose to believe in as a Muslim?
These questions are the path we can call “ Seeking the Truth”.
You may be a Muslim by birth and still in need to know more about this bliss Allah gave you, Islam.
Learning Aqidah means staying connected with Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. It’s the fuel you can Count on to raise your face and get closer to Allah almighty.
Aqidah Means the belief, the Creed or the Docrtine in Islam. So the topics of Aqidah are all about faith and The Unseens, whether they are all about Allah himself and his beautiful names and his attributes of perfection. Or The unseens like angels, prophets, messengers, decree the last day and all about the scenes of the Resurrection day.
Aqidah we learn about the differences between our religion and any other belief or cult. We will learn why Islam truly is the right path to Allah.
Here Are some of the importances of studying Aqidah in :
1- Achieve the sincerity and oneness of Allah subhanahu wa Ta’ala in our intentions and worship him alone. Because he is the one who is indeed Worthy to be worshipped alone.
2- Aqidah Offers psychological and intellectual relief to both heart and mind.
3- Aqidah Connects The believer with the Creator the master the Lord himself without any intermediary.
4- And finally but not last Learning Aqidah will make you glorify the Quran texts and the authentic Sunnah
Sources of receiving Aqidah
We can gain our Aqidah from 3 different sources:
1- The Noble Quran
2- The authentic hadiths and Sunnah
3- The Salaf Correct understanding of the text in Quran & Sunnah.
Does The Mind Contrad with The Texts of Quran or Sunnah ?
This is a very important Question to think about. The answer is simple, actually too simple, The revealed texts of Quran & Sunnah Don’t contrad with the Right mind.
So if you find a correct fixed revealed text contradicts with your mind, reconsider your idea here, or your way of thinking. May your cogitation or thinking isn't going in the right way.
How do we Believe in the Unseens ?
These unseens we must have some reference sources we can rely on. Just like Allah, His angels, his Prophets & Messengers, the Revealed Scriptures and the day of Resurrection.
Those are what the Prophet Muhammad called “the pillars of Faith in Islam”.
And they are what the Aqidah field in the Islamic studies talks about.
In Aqidah You Will Learn About:
The Lord (Allah)
His angels( al malayikah)
His prophets ( al anbiaa)
His revealed Books ( alkotob)
The Day of Resurrection ( Yawmu AlQiamah)
The Fate & Decree ( alqad’a wa alqadr)
One Question Remains: What is the Reason for deviation or stray from the Correct Belief ?
We can summarize the reasons into:
1- Ignorance of the correct belief.
2- Blind imitation.
3- Intolerance to whatever the ancestrals were upon
4- Negligence about contemplating the verses of Allah, in the Universe & Quran.
